Long time no write, I know. But what better news to come back to than this:
THE BRAVES HAVE EXTENDED CHIPPER JONES CONTRACT THROUGH 2012!
Jones will receive a guaranteed $42 million for the three year extension, with the contract worth up to $61 million over the next four seasons. The deal also provides a $9 million option for 2013 that would become guaranteed if he plays 123 games in 2012 or averages 127 games in 2011-12.
This deal pretty much ensures Jones will retire an Atlanta Brave, something I wish John Smoltz would have had the been able to do, but oh well, I am pretending to move on!
