Tom Glavine hits camp

On a day when the Braves beat the Yankees, 3-2, Tom Glavine made his first appearance at Atlanta’s spring training and the news was mixed. After undergoing shoulder surgery in August, Glavine continues to feel soreness in his shoulder. However, it was somewhat expected because Dr. James Andrews only did a surgery that would prolong his career not one that would rid him of pain.

Tommy is scheduled to pitch two games in April – 19th and 29th – and then go from there. Gee, I can’t help but be a little nervous that he’s complaining of soreness after tossing batting practice. I mean what is it going to be like when he gets into a real game? At the same time, he’s also getting used to the heightened velocity, so hopefully he’ll be able to get through the season.

News&Notes: Tommy Hanson continues to impress. Well if Glavine can’t continue through the season, the maybe Hanson can take over the fifth spot in the rotation...Speaking of debuts, Garret Anderson is scheduled to make his one with the Braves on Thursday in a game against Venzuela.
