Recap: I refuse to make bold statements again, after the Braves succumbed to a strong pitching performance by Indian Jake Westbrook, who struck out eight batters over six perfect innings in the Indians 8-0 wallop. The Braves went hitless until the seventh inning when Chipper Jones knocked a double off of Jorge Julio but remained in the game through the first four innings until reliever Jeff Ridgway allowed six runs in the fifth inning, putting the game out of reach for Atlanta.

News & Notes: Tim Hudson was named opening day starter...John Smoltz, who would pitch the second game of the season, decided not to throw on Monday, instead waiting until Tuesday to test his sore shoulder. It's looking more and more likely that he'll begin the season on the DL...Frank Wren is facing an over abundance of relief pitchers without any options.
