Recap: It was a scary day for the Braves as right fielder Jeff Francoeur was hit in the face by "a change up that got away" from pitcher Todd Wellemeyer, but Francoeur never lost consciousness and the Braves were able to stand behind their fallen teammate in their 3-2 win over St. Louis. Tom Glavine had his longest start of Spring Training going five innings and allowing only two runs while teammates Yunel Escobar and Chipper Jones knocked in the only runs of the game for Atlanta in the form of homeruns.
Next Game: Monday, @ St. Louis @ 1:05 PM/est
News & Notes: John Smoltz got his first star of spring training cruising through four innings before allowing five runs in the fifth. Smoltz was encouraged by the start, though. Thank goodness it's only spring training...Tim Hudson looks posed to take the mound on opening day for the Braves...Javy Lopez is hoping to make it out of Spring Training as the Braves back-up catcher...Good news, Manager Bobby Cox no longer is thinking about retiring in 2009.
It's been fun blogging with you,
