Cutting Day

The Braves trimmed their roster by nine on Wednesday. Among the names that will not be gracing the Major League field for now were pitchers Charlie Morton, Phil Stockman, Zach Schreiber, Matt DeSalvo and Jairo Cueveas, catchers J.C. Boscan and Tyler Flowers and infielders Diory Hernandez and Javier Guzman.

Stockman seems mostly likely to head back to the bigs if his shoulder can stay healthy. He along with Morton and Desalvo were moved to AAA-Richmond. Morton will be a member of a pitching rotation that will include Chuck James and Jeff Bennett. Boscan was re-assigned to Mississippi where he'll join Cuevas who was optioned to the team while Flowers was re-assigned to Class A Myrtle Beach. Hernandez and Guzman were re-assigned to Minor League camp.
