No need to panick but...

The Braves have scratched John Smoltz from pitching Friday's game against the Indians after Smoltz reported to camp with tightness in his right shoulder. The Braves are going to give him a couple days rest and possibly have him make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the Nationals. Smoltz was on the DL last year with a shoulder problem but is saying his shoulder doesn't feel quite the same.

Thanks goodness although even the mere mention of having him start the season on the DL is giving me palpitations. This is going to be a close chase for the NL East between the ageless wonders that are the Mets and the scrappy Phillies so every game will be important. And while I often tout the fact that the Braves have some pitching depth they aren't ready. Jo-Jo Reyes is pitching like it's batting practice and Chuck James proved he doesn't know how to get passed the fifth inning without giving up a homerun and omg...I am staying calm. Breathe in, breathe out. Ok, this is me not panicking. It's only spring training, right? Smoltz will be fine after all he's not Mike Hampton.
